Navigating Plant Medicine and Psychedelic Spaces

“Far away in the heavenly abode of the great god Indra, there is a wonderful net which has been hung by some cunning artificer in such a manner that it stretches out indefinitely in all directions. In accordance with the extravagant tastes of deities, the artificer has hung a single glittering jewel at the net’s every node, and since the net itself is infinite in dimension, the jewels are infinite in number. There hang the jewels, glittering like stars of the first magnitude, a wonderful sight to behold. If we now arbitrarily select one of these jewels for inspection and look closely at it, we will discover that in its polished surface there are reflected all the other jewels in the net, infinite in number. Not only that, but each of the jewels reflected in this one jewel is also reflecting all the other jewels, so that the process of reflection is infinite. The Hua’yen school [of Buddhism] has been fond of this image, mentioned many times in its literature, because it symbolizes a cosmos in which there is an infinitely repeated interrelationship among all the members of the cosmos. This relationship is said to be one of simultaneous mutual identity and mututal intercausality.”

~ Francis H. Cook, Hua-yen Buddhism: The Jewel Net of Indra

So, you’ve sat with the Grandmother or Grandfather. NOW WHAT?

How does one integrate all of the lessons and blessings received during ceremony or within the experience?

What did all of it mean?

~ Everyone Ever in the History of Plant Medicine

This is part of the reason, I believe we sit with plant medicine in the first place – in order to find or create meaning in our lives. A means to disintegrate from any foreign intelligence(s) and to connect deeply with your own innate intuitive wisdom and knowledge.

Your sovereign divinity.

Plant medicine plays a special role in many communities, and has for several millennia. Our species has evolved with natural entheogenic plant medicines for thousands and thousands of years, and here we are in the 21st century coming to learn more about why we need it in the western world and how Plant Medicine is shaping our communities from within.

I find it interesting that some of us must first disintegrate in order to integrate more deeply into the infinite bliss that is our cosmos.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
     Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
     So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
     Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself
     He threshes you to make your naked.
     He sifts you to free you from your husks.
     He grinds you to whiteness.
     He kneads you until you are pliant;
     And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast.

     All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life’s heart.

     But if in your heart you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure,
     Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor,
     Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
     Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
     Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
     For love is sufficient unto love.

~Khalil Gibran “The Prophet”

We must strip ourselves naked from all of the impurities that we clutch onto. And as we disintegrate from the “shell” of who we thought we were, we are able to begin truly growing. A seed doesn’t know its a tree, it just grows. And that there I feel is plant medicine and psychedelics in one paragraph.

Entheogens teach us to strip ourselves of our predetermined egos that were set by the public school system, our governments, and parental ideologies that were ingrained into us as children, simply due to the fact that our parents didn’t know any better, and our species is at a point of critical mass in our evolutionary trajectory.

We are beginning to learning, again.

Take it easy for the next couple of weeks, as you begin to integrate a new method of operating. Your hardware just got a software upgrade and it takes time to update and unpack all of the code running within your being. Our bodies are supercomputers. This is nothing new to anyone who has ever used a computer and thought “I wonder if this is how my brain works?” (1’s and 0’s, Binary code, Electrical Impulse and stimulus.)

As our species seats themselves more deeply within this awareness of Self, we are able to grasp a certain level of meta-cognition.

The ‘meta’ of who we are is something we come into contact with while out there. While in the psychedelic experience, much of what we come in contact with is an extrication process of the self to the Self. We are dissolving old paradigms that no longer serve us as individuals.

The coming of age ritual. When we transition from being a girl/boy into being a woman/man.

A boy to a man. A man to a hunter. A hunter to a warrior. A warrior to a father. A father for all. And Peace for all beings.

A girl to a woman. A woman to an educator. An educator to a Mother. a mother to Goddess. The blessings of all beings.

As we move into spring, Raw Dimension will be releasing a program into the community that will hopefully provide some deeper insight into Entheogenic Plant Medicine and Education as we get closer to decriminalization Nation wide.
